Djibouti saw the launch of construction on its first solar power plant with the laying of the first stone by the country’s president, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, on January 14.
The solar power project will be built in six stages, each stage adding 50 MW of power, towards a final capacity of 300 MW. The development of this solar power plant is the result of a partnership between Djibouti and Green Enesys.
In total, the project is valued at around $390 million and financed through a Program Partnership Arrangement.
