DLR Conquers North African RE with Moroccan Solar Research Center

As the German Aerospace Center (DLR) helps Algeria construct its first integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) plant, it is also looking into building a solar power research and test center in Morocco for the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (Masen).

The project, funded by the German government and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, could find its home near the Ouarzazate CSP plant. The German firm is currently developing a concept for a test center which will test and evaluate pilot projects while also furthering research and development towards more efficient, cost-effective solar power and desalination stations.
