DONG Energy and E.ON are in talks to buy Shell’s stake in the London Array offshore wind project. Danish financial daily Borsen reported DONG’s Niels Bergh-Hansen as saying, "We would like to buy their share, if the project is still profitable."
"We are currently negotiating with Shell to buy their stake together with E.ON. But if the project must be completed in time for the Olympic Games in 2012, then something must happen very soon and a decision must be taken shortly," he added.
Earlier this year, Shell announced that it was looking to sell its stake in the project as a result of rising costs. Shell, DONG, and E.ON currently each own one third of the project. Although if the deal bears fruit, then DONG and E.ON will equally share the project.
