Tenders went out earlier this week from Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for bids to add to the North African country’s power generation capacity. Both NREA and EETC issued separate tender calls for the development of renewable energy projects for a combined capacity of 500 MW. The tender closes on October 5. Egypt is looking for 250 MW of wind, 200 MW of PV and 50 MW of CSP capacity. The facilities, which will be developed on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis, are planned for the West Nile Area. EETC will sign power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the winners. NREA will provide the land for the projects.
