Egypt’s mega BenBan solar complex has won the first Arab Government Excellence Award. Benban Solar Park is a photovoltaic power station with a total capacity of 1650 MWp which has an annual production capacity of about 3.8 TWh. It is located in Egypt’s western desert, approximately 650 km south of Cairo and 40 km northwest of Aswan.
In a ceremony held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Arab Government Excellence Award celebrated the winners of its first edition in a virtual ceremony attended by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul-Gheit and senior officials from Arab governments.
A number of individual category awards were also given. Dr. Hala Helmy Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development- Egypt, picked up an individual award under the Best Arab Minister category, while Noha Ahmed Al-Sayed – Tech Center at Al-Muntazah district, won an award for Best Arab government Female employee.
The awards seek to promote administrative development and spread the culture of institutional excellence, thus achieving national goals and strategies and boosting performance excellence by celebrating leading Arab achievement.
