Egypt’s Moevenpick Hotel Goes Green

In Egypt’s Red Sea city of Hurghada, a hotelier is making green strides. The Moevenpick Resort Hurghada, following theMoevenpick’s global commitment to Green Globe certification for all worldwide properties, received its certification audit in November.

The property, which became a member of Moevenpick Hotels & Resort in March 2012, met the certificate qualifications in operational efficiency. A long-term sustainability management system is in place at the hotel with energy and water consumption strictly monitored. In addition, various projects on alternative green energy sources and water preservation are in progress. A special “green team” was established to identify, analyze, and implement environmental goals set by the hotel. Awareness is promoted among suppliers and partners asking to commit to sustainable business practices.

“Achieving Green Globe certification is a great milestone for this property, strengthening our efforts to be fully in line with the Moevenpick standard,” Alain Chatel, general manager of Moevenpick Resort Hurghada, said. “We will continuously thrive to do our best to preserve and contribute to the future for generations to come.”
