Ergon Solair PBC USA is set to begin construction of the 40MW Kisumu solar park in Kenya. The company’s African subsidiary, Ergon Solair Africa Ltd, has received the go-ahead from Kenyan authorities to begin construction over a 249-acre site donated by the government of Kenya.
The solar facility is projected to cost around $53.5 million, and the energy is guaranteed by a $0.075 per kWh feed-in tariff. The expected completion date is December 2023.
First regulatory consent was given in 2020 by the Energy Regulatory Commission of Kenya however, the parties took over two years to agree on a power purchase agreement.
