Geothermal Drilling Campaign Planned for Ethiopia

Geothermal bigwig, Icelandic firm Reykjavik Geothermal, is planning a massive drilling campaign in Ethiopia. Set to begin in July, the drilling will be a part of a $2-billion project to further develop the renewable energy source in the East African country.

In October, Ethiopia and Reykjavik signed an agreement to build the country’s first IPP project, the Corbetti geothermal plant. The Icelandic company also has ventures in other East African nations like Djibouti.
