Japan Set to Receive 111-MW Solar Facility

Japan’s third-largest telecommunications operator announced that it will build the country’s largest solar plant, totaling 111 MW.

 

The Tomakomai facility will begin operations in 2014. The Tokyo-based company held a ceremony today to mark the start of operations at a 2.1-megawatt solar plant in Kyoto, Softbank spokesman Naoki Nakayama said. The carrier also announced plans to build solar plants in Tottori, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto prefectures as well as a wind power plant in Shimane prefecture, he said.
