KenGen Kicks-Off Tender for Kamburu Floating Solar PV Plant

Kenya’s utility KenGen is now accepting applications to build a 40 MW floating solar photovoltaic project at the Kamburu Dam located in the southern region of the East African country.

The tender calls for a feasibility study for the project which the company would like to complete within eight months. The offtake of the generated energy will be implemented under a power purchase agreement, the tender indicates.

The German Development Bank (KfW) will be one of the lead funding partners for the project. According to tender documents, funding may also be sourced from the World Bank, the African Development Bank and other international lenders.

The deadline to submit applications is December 15, 2023.
