The Kenyan Ministry of Energy has awarded Chinese company, CAMC Engineering (CAMCE), the contract for the construction of a 220-kv high-voltage electricity transmission line.
The transmission line is 285 km and will connect the cities of Garissa and Isiolo.
At a cost of $130 million, the project also includes the installation of two conversion stations and sub-stations between two cities. It will be spread over two years and is financed by a loan obtained from the Export-Import Bank of China (Eximbank China).
