Kenyan Utility Saves on Renewable Energy

Kenya Power continues to incorporate more renewable energy projects into the country’s grid and its off-grid power projects could save the utility $580,000 each year. So far Kenya Power has commissioned eight projects totaling 1 MW with planned projects to add another 2.4 MW to the grid.

According to a report from Star of Kenya, the deputy manager of off-grid stations Henry Gichungi said, “The renewable power projects, which are wholly funded by the state, are part of the company’s and government’s strategy to accelerate electricity access in off-grid areas.”
