Liberia picked Voith, currently also working on the DRC’s Grand Inga project, to rehabilitate the Mt Coffee hydropower plant. The company will upgrade the turbines and deliver new generators to help the scheme reflect new technological advancements. Voith will also supply the control technology s well as electrical and mechanical power plant equipment. The modernized units will generate a much higher output than the previous machines, increasing the power generated by 25%.
“After the setbacks Liberia had to endure we are pleased to be able to make a substantial contribution to the economic development of the country,” Dr. Roland Münch, CEO and President of Voith Hydro, said.
