Liberia Looks to American Company for Energy Solution

Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has asked Dallas, Texas-based merchant bank, 4G, to help the country establish an independent power solution by the end of this year using alternative energy.

4G Global Alternatives, LLC (4GGA) specializes in infrastructure and power solutions that are both sustainable and renewable. Hani Farid, President of 4GGA, has spent many years in the Gulf Coast Countries (GCC) and the Middle East/North Africa region (MENA) developing relationships with sovereign funds, family Offices and various other strategic business partners interested in infrastructure development.

"There has been a renewed interest in the country of Liberia since Madam President’s election," Farid says. "There is a feeling that she has turned that country around and that Liberia has a bright future." With the help of its technology partners–BTU Solutions, Inc. out of Houston, Texas, SWAN Biomass out of Chicago, Illinois, and several groups of investors out of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)–4G will be building a 22.5 MW power plant for Liberia by 2010.

In the next 60 days, 4G will be sponsoring a trip for one of its closest partners from the UAE to Liberia and a future trip for President Sirleaf to visit with the government in Abu Dhabi. They will discuss energy solutions and foreign direct investment for Liberia as well as expand the political relationship between the two countries.
