Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) signed a management service contract with ESB International. The agreement will have a duration of three years, renewable by the Liberian government, for an additional period of two years. The signing of this management contract is the result of two years of work begun in 2016, which resulted in the granting of a $257 million grant by the Millennium Challenge Corp.
The evaluation terms of the services provided by ESB are mainly divided into four key performances. These are: the increase of new connections to the network, the reduction of technical and financial losses, the reduction of operating expenses and the mitigation of the phenomenon of corruption. The company will also be responsible for building the capacity of the Liberian staff and management team to put in place the skills needed to ensure succession.
