Romano Integrated (previously Romano Signs) is well known as one of the leading signage suppliers in Africa. The company was originally founded by the late Romanos. Romano, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the South African signage industry, and is today one of the largest of its kind on the continent in terms of sales revenue.

“We started as a signage company in 1952. However, over time and in response to our clients’ constantly changing needs, we have evolved into a multi-skilled provider of a broader range of eco-friendly, engineered solutions, to clients who are typically large commercial, industrial and retail property owners and tenants,” Alexi Romano, CEO, told Manufacturing Digital. “Our value-added offer includes the design, manufacture and installation of high-quality signage and displays, LED lighting systems, renewable energy systems, and modular units – including cladding systems and stand-alone retail stores, banks, and kiosks – all of which are delivered on-time at a competitive price. We innovate and constantly try to push industry boundaries through experimentation and adoption of new and environmentally-friendly technologies.”

Demonstrating its ability to offer more than just signage, Romano Integrated is currently implementing what is arguably the largest grid-tied, roof-mounted photovoltaic system currently in South Africa.

The project entails supplying and installing onto a commercial roof in Johannesburg approximately 700 photovoltaic modules (solar panels) that will generate 150 kilowatts of electricity once it is commissioned later this year.

“We are very excited about this relatively gigantic step that we have taken into SA’s emerging renewable energy industry,” Romano said.
