New JV Formed in Zimbabwe to Construct Solar Facilities

Swiss company Meeco Invest AG and Oxygen Africa’s Zimbabwean subsidiary Oxygen Group (Pty) Ltd. have formed a new JV to help progress solar power in Zimbabwe. Oursun Energy will help build PPPs to construct solar production facilities ranging between 10 MW to 100 MW.

Oursun said in a release: "Oxygen Africa will support the JV with its well-established network in the Zimbabwean industry as well as its good contacts to neighboring countries whereas The Meeco Group will bring it its huge experience in the development and realization of renewable energy projects."

Zimbabwe has been dabbling into solar energy over the past year with the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) throwing its weight to support more solar energy projects. In addition, the country began powering its border check-points with solar panels as well as installing 22 new solar powered toll gates on its roadways.
