Niger to see Solar PV with Storage Facility Under New Contract Awards

Indian firm Sterling and Wilson (SWPL) has announced its Hybrid and Energy Storage (HES) division has won a contract together with consortium partners Vergnet and SNS Niger to construct a Solar PV Battery Storage and Diesel Genset-based hybrid power plant in Agadez, Niger.

The Nigerien Electricity Company, issued this tender which calls for 18.9 MWp solar + 11.55MWh/3.0 MVA battery energy storage system (BESS) along with a 6.54 MVA diesel generator and 20 kV substation apart from an evacuation line up to the Nigelec Substation in Agadez.

"The consortium will also be responsible for a two-year operation and maintenance service of the power plant. The project also includes the rehabilitation of the electrical network of Agadez and the electrification of the neighboring hamlet of Tibinitene," SWPL said in a statement.
