Nigeria’s REA Installing Solar hybrid Systems for Covid-19 Care

Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has stepped up in the face of the global Corona Virus pandemic to install solar hybrid systems for the care of people infected with the coronavirus. These solar facilities were built in just two weeks.

The first two facilities were handed over in the capital Abuja and in mega city Lagos on Apr 15. Abuja saw a 53.1KWp solar hybrid mini grid plant installed at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Covid-19 Isolation Center. In Yaba, Lagos, a 25KWp Solar Hybrid Mini Grid was handed over to the COVID-19 Health Laboratory.

Two additional facilities were handed over in Ogun state on Apr 16 – a 20 kW solar power plant was recently commissioned as well as a small 10 kW solar hybrid system at the Iberekodo Isolation Center.
