Nordex to Supply Turbines to South African Wind Farm

Nordex has won a turnkey order to supply turbines at a 111-MW wind farm in South Africa. The deal covers 37 of the company’s N117/3000 machines. The project will be the first in South Africa to be fitted with Generation Delta turbines.

Neither the client or project name was mentioned; however speculation has the turbines bound for Enel Green Power’s Gibson Bay wind farm.

“The establishment of a local company in 2012 marked an important strategic step forward in our efforts to position ourselves in the emerging South African market,” said Nordex board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard. “In this way, we are able to handle local projects more swiftly and competently.”
