Omexom, a subsidiary of VINCI Energies, signed a €197-million contract with Senegal’s national electric company Senelec.
The agreement covers the installation of five high-voltage electrical transformer stations, the construction of 200 km of overhead and underground electricity lines, and the installation of 100 substations for electricity distribution.
The project, which will run for 36 months, will be located in the cities of Dakar, Diass, Diamniadio, Thies, Kounoune, Tobene and Tambacounda. It is part of the 2016-2020 strategic energy plan that includes the strengthening and expansion of the national electricity grid.
Its financing will be entirely provided by a banking pool composed of French and Senegalese investors. This investment is guaranteed by the Senegalese Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning and the French bank BPI Assurance Export.
