Morocco should see Phase 1 of the Noor solar plant come onstream in November, according to reports. The facility is located in the city of Ouarzazate and is set to, once fully operational, provide Morocco with half its energy needs.
Noor 1 will have a capacity of 160 MW, or about one-third of the plant’s total capacity of 580 MW. Subsequent phases, Noor 2 and 3, are expected to begin operation in 2017.
In 2020, when the project is set to be completed, the Noor solar complex will consist of four massive interconnected plants, along with hydro and wind power generators.
