Philadelphia Solar Signs PPA for Jordan Plant

The signing  ceremony of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Irbid District Electricity Company and Philadelphia Solar for the 11 MWp expansion of Al Badiya Power Generation has taken place. The facility is considered the largest power storage plant in the Middle East.

This expansion will consist of approximately 34,350 polycrystalline panels (320 Wp each). Philadelphia Solar made a state-of-the-art single axis tracking system (Model: PS-1P-Tracker), and a 12 MWh Lithium Ion energy storage systems.

The 11 MWp power plant’s purpose is to peak shave and power shift to increase the stability of the grid and support the grid at peak load hours. Additionally it will enhance the availability of energy during day time hours.

The signing ceremony took place in Irbid on August 8 in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Saleh Al Kharabsha, Eng. Ahmad Thainat the General Manager of Irbid District Electricity Company and a number of leaders in the sector.
