Poll Results: Are Biofuels Sustainable for Africa?

Results from Alternative Energy Africa’s reader polls are in. www.ae-africa.com readers were asked to voice their opinion on the future of biofuels in Africa. We asked Are Biofuels sustainable for Africa? Unlike the last poll on the future of alternative energy in Africa, which had no clear winner, this month’s poll showed that readers have a strong opinion on African biofuels; 61.16% of the respondees believe a sustainable biofuels industry in Africa is in its future. The rest of the vote was split pretty evenly across the board with 11.76% responding “No”, 14.71% responding “small scale only,” and 11.76% responded “I don’t know.”

Results from Petroleum Africa’s reader poll is also in. On www.petroleumafrica.com we asked our readers What do you think is the most likely Oil Price Scenario for the remainder of 2008? Two of the four choices received definitive responses. 50% of our readers believe that the price of oil would retreat below $100 per barrel, while 40.91% believe that a $150 per barrel price in 2008 is not unrealistic. Those hoping that the oil price wouldl retreat to below $70 per barrel did not have much company as only 5.82% of our readers thought that would be the case and an even smaller contingent, 2.27%, believe that it will surpass $200 per barrel.
