Portugal Debuts First Wave Power Plant

The world’s first wave power plant that aims to generate electricity using the motion of the ocean has become a reality off the coast of Póvoa de Varzim in Northern Portugal.

The project, Agucadoura Park, has three machines that absorb power generated from waves, lulls, and swells, and transforms it into electricity that could supply 1,500 homes.

The project exceeds €8.5 million in investments to date.
