Qatar Solar Energy (QSE) has partnered with Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom, signing an agreement that will see the Kazak firm provide Qatar with solar-grade silicon to help boost the firm’s renewable energy production.
Kazatomprom’s silicon will be provided at a very low fixed cost for the next 10 years. In addition, QSE is also looking to expand its PPAs in Kazakhstan. QSE CEO Salim Abbassi said, "This partnership allows QSE to secure the entire value chain from raw material to smart-grid development and provides a powerful foundation from which QSE will further expand its production capacity to 2.5 GW.”
