RENEXPO®: 10 Years of Energy Consciousness

From a small environmental trade fair to the leading trade fair for renewable energy and energy efficient construction and renovation

RENEXPO®, the international trade fair for renewable energy and energy efficient construction and renovation will celebrate its 10 year anniversary from September 24^th-27^th, 2009. The trade fair has grown through the years from a small environmental trade fair to the leading trade fair for renewable energy and energy efficiency in construction and renovation, and made a name for itself around the World.

The 2008 RENEXPO® was able break another visitor record. 13,907 visitors (15 % more than the year before) from 56 countries visited the RENEXPO® 2008. “We are very satisfied. The quality of the trade fair has improved yet again this year, and we have never had so many visitors from so many countries”, according to Elisabetta Alberti, project organizer of the RENEXPO®. “For the 10 year anniversary of the trade fair, there are already a few specials being planned – so look forward to some surprises!”

The RENEXPO®, with the IHE® Wood Energy, is Germany’s largest trade fair specialized in the production of energy out of wood. Of the 302 exhibitors in 2008, about 100 companies were dealing in the area of wood energy. Unique is the IHE® Wood Energy the presence of wood carburetor technology, and the IHE® has established itself as the top European forum for this future oriented industry. The 10^th anniversary trade fair will for the first time feature a special exhibit on fireplace ovens, pellet ovens and tiled stoves.

The conference for wood energy presented by the Bundesverband BioEnergie e.V. (BBE) is Germany’s leading window to the industry, giving an all-around overview of the politics, economic viability and best practice in the area of bioenergy. “The Bundesverband BioEnergie e.V. (BBE) also celebrated its 10^th year of operation in 2008. It is itself a reflection of the successful and continuous development of the bioenergy industry over the past years. The RENEXPO attracts thousands of visitors each year to Augsburg and guarantees an informative overview of the current state of the industry and a glimpse of what developments and technologies the future will bring. The Bundesverband BioEnergie will continue to be a strong partner and further the established yearlong cooperation. We congratulate to 10 years of terrific work”, says Helmut Lamp, Member of the German Bundestag and chairman of the board of the Bundesverband BioEnergie e.V. (BBE).

The RENEXPO® is unique due to its wide variety of topics. It deals, with the use of biomass for energy, and with the use of regenerative resources in construction as well. The successfully integrated portion of the trade fair interGreenBuilding® deals with the concepts of “energy efficiency – comfort – climate protection”. Exhibiting companies will present their products in the area of home technology, ventilation, heat recovery, panel heating and construction with ecological materials. As part of the interGreenBuilding®, the successful conference “GreenBuilding” will again take place. The Bundesarbeitskreis Altbau (BAKA) has again agreed to cooperate in organizing the conference.

Along with wood energy and construction, the trade fair area interCogen® dealing with cogeneration is also set to expand. In cooperation with the Bundesverband Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung (KWK), a cooperative cogeneration exhibition stand will be presented allowing constructors and suppliers to present their newest products and developments, and for the third time, trade conference on “Small and Micro Cogeneration” will take place. “The RENEXPO® has proven to be the most important industry meeting point for the decentralized energy economy. As a leading energy trade fair it has now for more than 10 years helped push decentralized power and heat production, in which cogeneration plays a key role. The organizers always bring together important companies, associations and institutions for the area of cogeneration and interested citizens to help make the efficient and environmentally friendly cogeneration technology known and exchange ideas, experiences and help initiate new business developments”, according to Adi Golbach, General Manager of the Bundesverband Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung e.V. (B.KWK).

Solar technology is also a top priority in Augsburg. The newest developments and technology in the area of solarthermal energy, photovoltaics and solar cooling will be presented in this portion of the trade fair and the export possibilities and markets will also be a theme. “The RENEXPO® offers us the chance to present ourselves with our products and partners. We see this trade fair as the ideal platform to bring ourselves closer to skilled workers and customers. We are looking forward to the anniversary trade fair and wish success to all those involved”, says Peter Aigner, General Manager of SchwabenSolar GmbH.

Heating and cooling with the highest efficiency is what heat pumps allow. At the “Heat Pump World” as part of the RENEXPO® and the accompanying “Fifth Federal Congress on Heat Pumps in Use”, constructors, builders and users will meet each year to exchange experiences in Augsburg. In addition, the exhibitor forum offers free presentations on the topic of heat pumps for qualified visitors and end users. “For 10 years, Lechwerke has been taking part. Together with our heat pump partners, we have presented the heat pump as the heating system of the future. Looking back, we have seen that the number of visitors to the RENEXPO® as well as the number of heat pumps sold in Germany have both gone up substantially. We are already looking forward to the RENEXPO® 2009”, according to Paul Waning, member of the board of Lechwerke AG and chairman of the Bundesverband WärmePumpe (BWP) e.V.
