Breaking news out of Mozambique has at least six dead as of a result of food riots in Maputo.
According to reports, police in Maputo fired into the rioting crowds killing six and wounding 16 as rioters threw stones, burned tires, and looted shops.
Associated Press said that the rioting followed days of rumors that there would be demonstrations against the increase in the bread price. Thousands of people, mainly young men, marched on the streets of Bagamoyo.
Other marches took place across the city but Bagamoyo was the only area where a serious incident occurred.
