Rosatom, the Russian atomic energy firm, will be training Egyptian students in the leading nuclear technologies at Russian institutes. The Russian firm agreed with Egypt’s Alexandria University to offer training sessions to 1,200 Egyptian students in total next year. According to the agreement, Egyptian students will receive training and will work in Russia for at least five years in order to study in scientific and nuclear fields.
Rosatom also introduced Russian leading nuclear technologies at the Nuclear Energy Week in Egypt in April, reported Zawya. The event was organized by the Nuclear Power Plant Authority of Egypt (NPPA), Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA), and Nuclear Materials Authority of Egypt (NMA), said the company in a statement.
Russia will be aiding Egypt further in its nuclear ambitions with the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant. The nuclear power plant will have a 4,800 MW capacity and be located in El-Dabaa.
The two countries have signed MoUs revolving around the proper use of nuclear energy. The MoU’s included an agreement regarding the government’s framework, the stipulations for the obligations of each party in the nuclear project, as well as a loan agreement between the Egyptian and Russian Ministries of Finance in order to provide necessary financing for the project.
