SA Restaurant Advertising Goes Green

South African organization Carbon d’Afreeque has set out to reduce the country’s billboard footprint, and in its latest scheme, has debuted an innovative solution to help further its mission. Authentic Portuguese restaurant Nando’s billboards will be recycled to make holiday decorations by adults from Sithandiwe Disabled Care Center.

“Historically, old billboards are either incinerated or taken to landfill,” Carbon d’Afreeque founder Gabriella Alberoni-Damon said. “Carbon d’Afreeque rounds up as many as it can and transforms them into unique fashion bags, utility pieces, and décor. To date, we have recycled [almost] a half million square meters of billboard waste.”

Nando’s is one of the first companies to jump onboard Carbon d’Afreeque’s mission with Alberoni-Damon saying it was a win-win for all.
