South Africa’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is looking to power its entire campus with renewable energy sources. The campus’ 558-kW ground-mounted solar PV plant has reached commercial operation with initial testing completed in 2015.
The project was undertaken by juwi Renewable Energy who was awarded the project in July 2015.
At the time of the project award juwi South Africa MD, Greg Austin, said that the CSIR PV plant was a flagship project for the company and would set the “benchmark for distributed renewable energy in South Africa.”
