Following the national Cabinet’s exclusion of several food crops as potential feedstocks for biofuels, including maize, the South Africa’s Free State government says it will continue its drive to develop biofuels for the region.
Free State premier Beatrice Marshoff said, "We have had to reconsider our options regarding this project," in her State of the Province address in Bloemfontein last week. Marshoff stressed that the government’s decision would be respected but that Free State will continue to research appropriate alternative for the region’s biofuels initiatives.
