French firm EDF and Saudi Arabian company Global Energy Holding Co. (GEHC) signed a JV to carry out feasibility studies for Saudi Arabia’s nuclear program. The scheme will revolve around the French technology, EPR, to help face the growing energy demand.
Saudi Arabia announced in 2011 that it would push for 18 GW of nuclear power. GEHC’s president Mazen Al Sawwaf said, “We are looking forward to supporting Saudi Arabia in its endeavors to diversify its energy mix for power production over the next decades.”
