Schneider Electric Brings Sunlight to Nigeria

The Nigerian government’s efforts to expand its power generation sector through alternative energy have Schneider Electric coming in to launch a new solar power project. The Asore Villasol Power Project, located in Ogun state, will produce up to 4 kW of power for 80 homes and the community school. The application includes a Schneider Electric Villasol panel, photovoltaic panels, a battery bank, and battery charging stations.

Schneider Electric Nigeria country president Marcel Hochet said that Villasol was part of the company’s approach to addressing the energy deficit present in Nigeria and other developing countries. The Ogun state governmor Ibukun Amosu said that it was hoped that the project would result in more private and public partnerships in order to upgrade infrastructure to help drive the local economy.
