Senegal to be Powered by Wartsila Power Plants

Wartsila was awarded contracts, totaling €60 million, to expand two existing power plants for Senegal’s public utility company Senelec.

The firm will supply turnkey extension solutions to the Bel Air power plant, built in 2005, and the Kahone plant that was established in 2006. Wartsila maintains and operates the plants under a 15-year agreement signed in 2006. Both facilities are powered by 18 cylinder Wartsila 46 engines with the extension including two additional 18 cylinder Wartsila 46 engines, increasing output with 34 MW to reach a total electricity generation of 102 MW on each site.
