Shell’s Rumored Changes, Including its Alternative Energy Department

An internal e-mail from Royal Dutch Shell PLC has reportedly been leaked and has revealed the appointments of 62 senior executives to new roles within the restructured company. The e-mail dated June 16, sent by incoming CEO Peter Voser, was published Saturday on the blog royaldutchshellplc.com. A Shell spokesman said the company does not comment on purported leaks.

One change noted is the company’s downsized alternative energy division – investing in wind, solar, and second generation biofuels – falls under the remit of Mark Gainsborough, Executive Vice President for Strategy and Portfolio.

Voser, who will take up the position of CEO effective July 1, is implementing a major restructuring to make the company faster moving and more efficient. The biggest change in the shakeup was the elimination of the Gas and Power division – operations were split between the new upstream and downstream divisions.
