China’s Sinohydro could possibly commit to the construction of three new hydroelectric power stations after the completion of its current project, the 275-MW Soubré hydroelectric dam project in October.
The three hydroelectric power stations include the GriboPopoli (112 MW), Louga (280 MW) and Boutoubre (156 MW). They are all to be erected on the Sassandra river.
According to BrahimaDosso, head of the Soubré project at the Energy Corporation of Côte d’Ivoire (CI-ENERGIES), negotiations are at an advanced stage with the Chinese company for the GriboPopoli power plant project.
If the project starts next October, the construction will take approximately 40 months and should be funded by Eximbank China. In addition, feasibility studies are being carried out for the Boutoubre and Louga power plants, the size of which depends on their impact on the environment and local populations, a Bloomberg report said.
