SOLAR HEATS UP THE WORLD FUTURE ENERGY SUMMIT 2009

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 7th January 2009: A stunning 132 solar-related companies will be exhibiting at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES09) on January 19-21, 2009. In addition, 14 solar experts from around the world will showcase how their commercial solar projects can solve energy demands now and for the future.

 

“Due to unprecedented demand at the 2008 summit, we split our solar session in two for 2009, Solar PV and Thermal”, said Richard Hease, Event Director for WFES09.  “Not only are they a great source of commercial knowledge but also a great way to meet business partners”.

 

Five of the top 10 Solar PV cell giants, 40% of the market’s global production, will be exhibiting at the summit – Sharp, Kyocera, Suntech, Sanyo and Mitsubishi, alongside US major league players, Applied Materials and Sunpower.

 

According to Sami Khoreibi, CEO, Environmena Power Systems, this is “a clear indication of the growing interest for solar power in both Abu Dhabi and the MENA region”.

 

Thousands of delegates have booked to attend the conference keynote sessions and break-out technical streams from Jan 19-21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Leading minds involved in the summit will present the commercial reality of solar energy for 2009 and beyond.

 

Iwao Yamamoto, GM of Innovation Centre, Mitsubishi Chemical Corp, is preparing for “drastic policy change in the US and Japan” in keeping with the recent EU energy policy package, offering huge regulatory investor securities. The entire PV panel will discuss demand, prices and financing resurgence.

 

Power plants and markets will be top of the solar thermal agenda on Jan 20th with 8 experts presenting engineering, design, construction, financing Audemars Piguet Replica Watches models, technology and supply chains on the largest solar thermal power plants and newest technologies in the world.

 

According to Micheal Geyer, Abengoa Solar, who will be speaking at WFES09, “It is being considered to transfer huge amounts of electricity produced in the desserts to Europe. However there are still technological barriers that need to be solved.” 

 

Technological barriers, commercial projects, grid parity, large scale power generation, engineering, investor confidence, profit margins are set to dominate the entire summit agenda in Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks time.

 

“The current challenging global economic environment should not make leading industrial countries loosen, postpone or even abandon programs to promote renewable energy” says Miroslav Durana, Head Alternative Energy Research, Credit Suisse.

 

With over 15,000 attendees expected, 20 government delegations, 110 speakers from 23 countries, over 300 exhibiting companies from 27 countries and 500 media expected from all over the world, the renewable energy industry shows no sign of weakness.

 

ABOUT THE WORLD FUTURE ENERGY SUMMIT

The World Future Energy Summit held its inaugural event on 21-23 January 2008 in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
