Solar Millennium Takes Former CEO to Court

One year ago, Solar Millennium’s CEO Utz Claassen unexpectedly left his post after only 74 days in office. Claassen received €9-million as an initial signing bonus, and has refused to return the capital after his quick exit.

Solar Millennium’s Supervisory Board attempted to reach a mutual agreement with Claassen, but has now decided to take legal measures for repayment of the full amount that he received upon his appointment.

The Board considers the ongoing negotiations, held since May 2010, as failed. “Since December, we have been going around in circles,” said Supervisory Board Chairman Helmut Pflaumer.

Court hearings are expected on September 9.
