Solar Project Shines on Nevada Employment

US developer of large scale solar power projects SolarReserve said that 90% of the construction workforce for the company’s 110 MW Crescent Dunes Solar Energy project will come from the US state Nevada.

The project is expected to create more than 600 jobs on site during the peak construction period. The company said that it was looking into a program that would support local employment mainly focusing on veterans and family members of active duty military personnel. More than 4,300 direct and indirect jobs will be generated in the supply chain including manufacturing, value-added services, and transportation

Once completed, the Crescent Dunes project will be the largest molten salt power tower project in the world and will provide electricity to about 75,000 homes during peak electricity periods. The program will be conducted in partnership with existing employment programs administered by the Department of Defense, the Department of Labor, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the State of Nevada, Nye County, and local veterans’ organizations.
