Release
Dunkermotoren GmbH, a leading supplier of motor drives for solar tracking headquartered in Bonndorf, Germany and the parent of Dunkermotoren USA Inc. (Dunkermotor), has acquired the Copley Motion Systems (CMS) business, based in Basildon in the U.K. CMS develops and manufactures highly dynamic linear motor systems. The CMS operation, which is the inventor of the tubular linear motor and an innovation leader in linear direct drives, will be known as Dunkermotoren Linear Systems.
Dunkermotoren currently develops and manufactures configurable, customized solutions based on brushed and brushless DC rotary electric motors with integrated power and control electronics and fieldbus interfaces. Within a modular system, these motors are combined with planetary and worm gearboxes designed and manufactured by Dunkermotoren, as well as with its own manufactured encoders and brakes.
"We are excited to be able to provide this expanded range of solutions for our existing customers and market segments," said Dunkermotoren managing director Nikolaus Gräf. "The new Dunkermotoren Linear Systems technology and product lines are logical complements and the extended product portfolio gives our globally positioned sales team the chance to offer even more comprehensive solutions to the customer."
With compact form-factors and fast repetitive motion, the new Dunkermotoren Linear System s actuators are natural candidates for productivity-enhancing innovations in multi-axis automation. In typical configurations, they can be 10 times faster than traditional ball screw systems and their intrinsic simplicity and ruggedness enable millions of trouble-free operating cycles required by today’s innovative mechanisms.
