As oil prices continue to rise, one company has developed a way to help ship owners operate with less fuel while being environmentally-friendly.
Solar Solve Marine is showcasing its new product, the SOLASOLV™ in Hamburg, Germany this month. The product, used for navigation bridge windows, will reduce CO2 emissions with the use of anti-glare heat rejecting sunscreens.
A study revealed that a reduction of between 23% and 30% could be expected when the product is used on all of the windows, but that figure is dependent on the type of solar film used in the screen’s construction. Air conditioning systems require additional fuel to run and produce CO2 emissions.
