SoloPower Systems has completed its first commercial-scale deployment of its ultra-lightweight photovoltaic (LPV) in South Africa. The company’s LPV was successfully installed on a factory rooftop in Port Elizabeth, as the first in a two-phase project. The installation was commissioned by Dumont Power, a SoloPower Systems’ distributor.
According to the director of Dumont Power, Raymond du Plooy, the installation was “quite remarkable” as the product required no power tools, racking, special handling, or other common installation aspects. There was no need for special rigging equipment to get the panels in place nor a need for a large storage area to keep the panels before installation.
