Solutions for Africa’s Energy Challenges

Release

Africa’s potentially crippling energy challenges – and possible solutions to these – come under the spotlight next week at Energex Africa’s special Business Briefing Sessions. A high-level trade delegation of leading energy companies from China are looking to establish a foothold in Africa’s energy sector. The two sessions supplement the three-day exhibition, which is open to the public, at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand from 7 to 9 June.

The group is led by Wang Zhixuan, Secretary General of the China Electricity Council (CEC), a consolidated non-profit organisation comprising all of China’s power enterprises and institutions. The Council currently has more than 1 400 member companies.

The CEC will lead a group of top Chinese exhibitors specialising in thermal, hydro and renewable wind and solar energy systems, as well as fourth-generation nuclear power technologies, the most efficient and economical in use today. Other manufacturers provide systems for environmental protection, power communication, automation and energy conservation.

Explaining the purpose of the event, John Thomson, Managing Director of Exhibition Management Services says: “The two half-day sessions have been structured to offer participants the opportunity to learn more about what China has to offer Africa in the energy sector, whilst identifying projects and potential opportunities where local companies can collaborate with Chinese companies. The focus is on knowledge sharing, networking and partnerships,” adds Thomson.
