South Africa Gets Energy University

Schneider Electric has announced the opening of its Energy University – a vendor-neutral, online educational community providing the fundamentals to implement successful energy efficient solutions.

Courses will provide help in decision-making, management, planning, design, and construction techniques. Currently 11 courses are offered including topics like energy efficiency fundamentals, the economics of energy efficiency, going green with leadership in energy and environmental design, alternative power generation technologies, reducing electrical power consumption, and lighting basics for energy efficient applications.

Courses are offered online and can be completed in less than an hour. Certification is given upon completion, verifying that the user has a thorough understanding of energy management.

“There has never been a more critical time for South African companies and individuals to become more aware of energy consumption, particularly in light of Eskom’s recent 31.3% tariff hike," says Schneider Electric South Africa MD, Patrick Gaonach. “Not only this, but we can expect another increase to the tune of around 25% from the state-owned power company over the next two years," he adds.
