South Africa Set to Begin Third Bid Round for RE Projects

South Africa is gearing up to launch its third bid round focused on renewable energy projects in September, according to the Energy Department director-general Nelisiwe Magubane. There have been delays with the first round bidders, but Magubane said that the halts were the government’s fault. “Banks have been queuing to fund the program; the bidders are not struggling with funding.”

The government said it is confident that the winners of the first bid round will reach financial close by the end of August.
