Abengoa released its H1 2014 earnings report showing a 31% growth compared to the same figure the previous year. The firm’s net income was €69 million for the first six months of 2014, a 2% increase from the first half of the previous year. And 9% of its revenues came from Asia and Africa.

Although there was a slight decrease in H1 2014 projected revenues after the termination of some large projects in the US, the pipeline of identified commercial opportunities stands at €165 billion.Manuel Sánchez Ortega, CEO of Abengoa, said: “I am pleased to see how we have been able to continue with our strong operating performance, increasing our EBITDA over 30% year over year during the H1 2014 as a result of an improvement in the margins of all our activities.”

The Spanish firm is involved in South Africa’s latest round through its REIPPP, as it was chosen to develop the Xina Solar One. The 100-MW parabolic trough plant will form the largest solar complex in Africa together with Abengoa’s plant Ka Xu Solar One that is currently under construction in the country.
