South African Pension Funds Going into Renewable Energy

The Metal Industries Benefit Funds Administrators (MIBFA) announced that it has committed up to about $109 million investment in the renewable energy sector.

 

The Mergence Renewable Energy Debt Fund is one of 28 fund managers in South Africa to become a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment (UN PRI). This is an initiative offers asset owners and asset managers the opportunity to make a commitment to responsible behavior.

 

The MIBFA represents the interests of more than 400,000 active members in the Engineering Industries Pension Fund and Metal Industries Provident Fund while Mergence Investment Managers, a 100% black-owned asset manager, specializes in impact investment funds.
