Nigerian firm Stallion Motors, part of the Stallion Group of companies, unveiled its first 100% locally-assembled electric car, Hyundai-Kona at the Stallion VON Factory in Ojo, Logos state. Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled this Nigerian first in a ceremony last Friday.
The Hyundai-Kona is the first zero emissions car in Nigeria. It has a 482-km range, can hold a charge for around 10 hours, and comes with a 5-year battery warranty. This new vehicle will be available to the market by the end of 2020.
“Currently, Nigerian electricity consumers living in R1 category dwellings are charged only 4 naira per kW. This means that when the Hyundai-Kona goes on sale in Nigeria, its owner will only have to pay 316 Nigerian naira for a full charge if he plugs the car into the public power grid,” according to Stallion Motors.
