The Stanbic Bank in Ghana introduced solar-powered ATMs to serve offsite customers unable to access funds due to power outages. These ATMs, firsts in the country, are aimed at providing a reliable and cost efficient alternative to running ATMs during the ongoing power outages in the country.
To date Stanbic has installed eight solar powered ATMs and intends to install around 20 more in high-traffic areas and areas that experience the most power outages.
Electricity to each ATM is provided by up to 16 solar panels, feeding a system that includes a battery bank, air conditioners and CCTV cameras.
